Lesley, I have written many poems and bits and parts of a book I would love to publish one day but have not had the right push or connections to get it going. Well, it is about time girlfriend so where do we go from here?

Hi pamela, thanks for joining the group, I have been feeling so alone....:-(
What is your major interest? Is it poetry or prose? What sort of book were you thinking of? I've written factual "how-to' books and had them published by major publishers, I've also published books by friends and colleagues and self-published one of my own - and I've given courses on writing and creativity. I was hoping that if we could get other people to joing us we could start a writers group - it is a way to get the motivation push most of us need to get something finished. Would you be interested in that? Do you know anyone else who is interested in writing?

I just published my first book that is apart of a series. I am finshed with the second book and I am working on the third book in the series. my question is how long should I wait between each book before I publish them. I am trying to focus on marketing my first book on a budget. It's hard but not impossible. My problem is am a shy person and it's hard for me to get out there and announce my book. I'm learning do you have any advice for first time authors.

It is so great to find this group!!!! I am an avid reader and writer and have problems staying motivated when it comes to writing( mainly because my job takes up most of my time) so I would love to be part of a group in order to keep myself motivated and to learn from others. I write a lot of fiction but i am also working on a self- help / memoir kind of thing.
( You can read a few of my short stories in my blog www.dayhannaacosta.com)
I am currently helping April with her marketing and would love to help anyone who might have similar needs.
ps. I LOVE the idea of creating a writing group. There is seven of us now... why don't we meet sometime soon ? we can pick a topic to write about and then present what we wrote to the group.. I could probably get more writers to join
how about starting a writers Meetup?
i would love to organize it!
Please let me know if this is something you guys would be interested in doing!
I look forward to meeting all of you !!!

Hi, Lesley - I was excited to see a Writers Group. What type of How-To books have you published and who was your publisher?

I have authored/co-authored about a dozen geek books, dealing mostly with Technical Certifications. I also have a college text under my belt that has sold about six copies. That is the one I wrote on spec, naturally. I made about .00001 cent an hour. I am interested in hearing about your experiences.

OK, now that we have a group of 10 can we all just get together so we can do some brainstorming! I have the need to get this book out of me now! I want to be around writers, authors and artists who have a creative interest. Let's all meet somewhere/sometime soon! I would even open my home if you all want, just let me know before the words pour out of my brain!!!

Hello Wordsmiths
My story is similar to Gary's, in that my financial return in relation to my energy exertion has been incompatible. My experience entails 3-4 self published books, but have a slew of academics I've written to and for a pedogy I've created.

Anyone interested in this new technology in which one can become a publisher for "FREE". All that's required are content creation and layout; then, uploading said structured content in PDF file format. I've been arduously reading about it. We could even create one using all our talents, as it's very time consuming for one person to serve as a publisher.

Mind you, there's no capital outlay necessary, except time. It's a new concept in publishing, and NO, I am NOT selling or representing any company. I'm an innocent bystander passing on information.

Anything going on in this group? Do we have an event coming up? maybe a get-together, swap critiques?
