Stay in control of your mail, your leads, your opportunities...
Gmail has now created different “tabs” and will automatically sort your mail for you. Personally, I find it hard to remember to check multiple “tabs” or boxes to find all my email and, if I let promotional emails (or emails from social media sites) go into another box I’m going to miss valuable networking invitations, sales leads, as well as group emails from my business partners.
If you are like me… and want ALL your important email going to ONE BOX… you can change your settings in gmail very easily…
1) First…. Click on the “settings” wheel here….
2) Choose “configure inbox”
3) “DeSelect” all tabs… this will put your email box back to the old way and insure YOU control where your email goes.
You can also choose to allow some tabs and not others. Unfortunately, Google is going to choose what emails go where… and what are important or not... they consider all "group emails" to be spam... even though they might be business groups you subscribe to for valuable leads. They don't consider that for many of us "social media" is more "business" than "social" and that, again, valuable sales leads, networking meetings, and more, come through that medium.
I make an average of $500 commission per referral/sale… so, naturally I would prefer to spend 10 minutes a day “sorting” my email myself… rather than miss out on a valuable business lead, or networking event because I didn’t remember to check a separate folder.
TIP: You can easily “STAR” the most important emails… then it’s a SIMPLE matter to hit the “Starred” link on the left side to see ONLY those emails that YOU decided were most important. This allows you to keep all emails in one box... but easily reference, and find, older ones that need more follow up.
