Event Description

Learn about Florida Crackers and sample Cracker cuisine with Janis Owens, novelist, memoirist, folklorist, and premier storyteller. Trace the roots of the term “Cracker” back to its origins in Elizabethan England and explore this group of proud, fiercely independent Americans who have a deep love of their families, country, stories, and food. The Florida native was born in Marianna, Fla., in 1960. She is an award-winning author of four books including “The Cracker Kitchen: A Cookbook in Celebration of Cornbread-Fed, Down-Home Family Stories and Cuisine” that is part cookbook and part family memoir. Program followed by a book signing. $10 Members; $20 non-members. Space is limited. Call for reservations.
