Florida has a long-standing relationship with Spain and many Latin American countries. Hear the history of what ties Florida to Spain and Latin America including food, trade, and tourism. Find out how the cigar manufacturing industry influenced early Tampa, the effect of Cuban immigration on Miami, and how the Puerto Rican population has found Central Florida economically beneficial. Author of four books, Paul Dosal, Ph.D., was born and raised in Tampa. He is a fourth generation descendant of Cuban immigrants and received both his Masters and Doctorate degrees from Tulane University in New Orleans, La. Dr. Dosal is currently a Professor of Latin American History at the University of South Florida. Free. Lunches available for pre-order from Jason’s Deli for $8 per person. Space is limited.
